The 2nd edition of Blazed and Confused!
Spook the Horses (Wellington)
The band’s most daring effort to date, “People Used to Live Here” explores the natural and immediate. Written and conceived in relative isolation over several grim Southern Hemisphere winters, SPOOK THE HORSES are defining their own sonic trademark with this album: an atmosphere of quiet desolation, raw and real, desperate and unsettling: the post-apocalyptic soundtrack to abandoned places, where people used to live, at one point in time, long ago.
Wolf Wizard (Hamilton)
2018 has been a huge year for Wolf Wizard, seeing the release of their debut album Cursed. An absolutely crushing album, Wolf Wizard journey to Christchurch for the first time to bring all of the riffs.
Three piece psych rock/stoner doom from Christchurch formed in 2012. Mixing elements of classic stoner grooves like Black Sabbath, modern desert rock like Colour Haze and Kyuss as well as sludge/doom influences from bands like Ufomammut and Bongripper, EnFire has made a name for themselves in the local scene with heavy, groove layered riffs, powerful emotive melodies and back breaking live performances.
From the depths of the North Shore, the slums of Thames and the asshole of Titirangi come three shit talking, dope smoking, head banging babes who just want to smash things
Pieces Of Molly (Christchurch)
Mind altering riff hypnotists, Pieces of Molly’s attraction is undeniable, their sound is one to be reckoned with. High octane (8) primal Rock N Roll.
After releasing their second EP in 2018 and touring New Zealand and Australia. they are preparing to release their third EP before the end of the year.
Dick Tracy (Palmerston North)
A self-described ‘Geriactricore’ band, Dick Tracy combines vamping blues driven riffs with an upbeat stoner vibe. They pride themselves on their energetic live shows which has brought them to opening for american stoner giants RED FANG and touring with NZs own HLAH on the back of the 2018 release of their self titled album.
Forever building a massive head of steam, Yarnspinner have been in the midst of recording their debut album and are ready to get everyone grooving. Big riffs, even bigger spliffs.
Swamp Dweller – Band (The Catlins)
This Catlins based three piece channel the hell and hard yakka of country working life into low tuned, crushing stoner sludge and doom. Armed with a Matamp full stack and riffs that will shatter your spine, Swamp Dweller crack the earth.
Scrooge is a live musical smorgasbord oozing from the fertile soils of Christchurch, New Zealand. Drawing nutrients from funk, dub, and rock, you might consider dancing shoes as a ‘must have’ item when attending their shows.
