Following the trail of pioneers with colourful names like BB King, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and Hound Dog Taylor, Mike Frost & the Icemen have refined the original blues of Memphis, Chicago, Houston and L.A. The result is a dynamic blend of new and old. Original tunes and old favourites, played and sung with respect for the past, but with the drive and enthusiasm needed to entertain a contemporary audience.
When you hear the real blues, you know it is the personal expression of true soul, and real emotion. Mike Frost & the Icemen play the REAL blues.
The Cavell Leitch New Zealand International Jazz & Blues Festival is the largest combined jazz and blues event in the country. Staged in Christchurch, the festival is an annual event, which celebrates its twenty fourth year in 2019.
