Backyard Davey

Backyard Davey is one of the many personas of Christchurch Musician David Thorpe – AKA Li’l Chuck The One Man Skiffle Machine, David Thorpe Harmonica and many more. He is a veteran performer and spent well over a decade in Christchurch’s rollicking Irish combo The Black Velvet Band. 

Davey performs fresh interpretations of old classics playing a mix of Blues, Classic Country, Folk, Jazz styles throwing his original material into the mix. He is a seasoned one man band, with his performances showcasing his simultaneous use of Guitar, Harmonica, Vocal, Stomp and Loops with a dollop of good humour.
