Fanny Lumsden
June 2 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm NZST
$20WE LOVE FANNY! 2 x ARIA and 9 x Golden Guitar Winner Fanny Lumsden’s shows are one of a kind. An all-in affair, where joy and exuberance meet intimate storytelling, delivered with wit, warmth & luscious harmonies. Alongside her band The Prawn Stars, Fanny has established herself as one of the genre’s most esteemed performers (The Australian), honing her craft in hundreds of halls on their annual ‘Country Halls Tour’ all the way to her first UK show; a packed-out Avalon Stage at Glastonbury.
Fanny has just released her 4th studio album Hey Dawn into the world with a bang, debuting at number 1 on the ARIA Australian Album charts and in the Top 10 ARIA Album charts and has gone on to hold the number 1 Australian Country spot for 5 weeks and counting. Hey Dawn has gained high praise including 4 stars in Rolling Stone Magazine, being described as unique and timeless (Capital News), a triumph (Women in Pop) and cementing Fanny as undoubtedly the brightest new country star of this era (Capital News). The album features standout tracks including the breathtaking opening track ‘Hey Dawn’ (Rolling Stone), the Country Radio Top Ten and CMT #1 hit ‘Millionaire’, and fast fan favourites ‘When I Die’ and ‘Ugly Flowers’.
Having grown up on a sheep and cropping farm and spending most of her time touring regional Australia in a caravan, Fanny’s songs are born of the red dirt, the snowy mountains, and all the people in between. She’s a farmer, a volunteer firefighter, a highly acclaimed singer songwriter with her album Fallow (2020) taking out the ARIA Award and the AIR Award for Country Album of the Year and 5 CMAA Golden Guitars, including Album of the Year, Alt Country Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. The album was also shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize Top 9 Australian Albums (2020) and topped it off with an APRA Award Nomination for one of the Top 5 Most Performed Country Songs in 2021 for Dig.
An artist who is dedicated to playing live and connecting with audiences, Fanny has toured with the likes of Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers and more, has headlined multiple sold-out Theatre Tours, featured at AmericanaFest in Nashville, and successfully undertaken 10 Country Halls Tours where she takes her full band show to halls all over regional Australia. She has just wrapped up her hugely successful ‘Hey Dawn Tour’ with sold-out shows in New Zealand, Ireland, London and theatres across Australia, topped off with her second ARIA win for Best Country Album (2023).
The show is hilarious, inclusive and adventurous and don’t let the name fool you – it’s perfect for the whole family!
It’s like she’s harnessed the greatest attributes of Gillian Welch and Dolly Parton – The Music.
