DESCRIPTION:Darkroom’s Free Artist Development Series is back and this month’s topic is Audio and Music Career Pathways\, or more specifically “Weird Career Pathways” \nWed Nov 19th at Darkroom\, 336 St Asaph St\n7pm doors\, talk starts 7:30pm\nThis month’s guest speaker is Audio Engineer Joseph Veale \nOH\, AND THERE WILL BE FREE SNACKS! \nYou’ve got the passion for music and audio work\, maybe you’re studying it\, keen to study it\, or maybe you’ve already gone and gotten yourself a qualification in this field… but what next? Are there other career pathways that don’t lead to playing covers in the corner of your local tavern\, teaching school kids to play guitar\, or having to move to Auckland to work in the music industry? \nWe’ve lined up a Chch-based industry expert who knows a thing or two when it comes to weird career paths within the music and audio sectors.\nIn this seminar local audio engineer\, Joseph Veale\, will be sharing some insights into where his studies and passion for music and audio have taken him over the past 20 years! Joseph has worked in all sorts of sound related jobs\, from live sound and studio production\, to documentary film and reality TV shows\, plus a whole lot of work with touring bands on both NZ and international touring circuits. From working as the front of house sound engineer for metal bands\, pop artists\, and Flying Nun icons The Chills\, Joe’s here to help us fill the gaps and give us some real world knowledge and insights into what a career in this rewarding but tricky industry can look like! \nJoin us on Weds Nov 19th from 7pm. There will be free snacks! Plus the bar will be open if you want to buy a drink. \nThese sessions are super informal and friendly\, and a great opportunity to meet new folks in the creative arts community.
