SUMMARY:French For Rabbits & Michael Llewellyn
DESCRIPTION:In June and July\, dream pop luminaries French for Rabbits are going back to back with the compelling Te Whanganui-a-Tara based songwriter Michael Llewellyn for a winter tour celebrating new work. On the tour the two singer-songwriters and their bands will be performing two sets followed by songs together. \nDream-pop luminaries French for Rabbits return to the stage in full band formation for the first time in a year to celebrate psychedelic new single ‘Gold and Blue’ which was written in early 2024 at the APRA songhubs alongside French for Rabbits’ long-time collaborator Jol Mulholland (producer on ‘The Overflow’) and Georgia Lines. It is due out in June ahead of the tour. \n“The song feels like walking through a tunnel and coming out the other side a changed person”. \nFollowing the departure of the bands guitarist last year\, they will be joined by Sam Taylor (Anthonie Tonnon\, Nadia Reid) for these dates\, alongside Brooke Singer (vocals\, keys\, guitar)\, Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (drums)\, Phoebe Johnson (bass) and Penelope Esplin (keys\, vocal). \nKnown for his raw storytelling and evocative poetics\, Michael Llewellyn is a dynamic and captivating artist. Following the successful release of his debut record Oh My Darling\, he is now excited to share and perform new music from his latest project\, I’m Gorgeous. “The record is an ever-swirling story about confronting the many masks we find buried within our own reflection\,” says Michael. “I’m Gorgeous reminds me that beyond the shadows\, the grief\, and the pain of life\, there is always an opening—there are always people\, love\, and peace.” \nMichael is touring with his full band: Hikurangi Shaverian-Kaa on drums\, Phoebe Johnson on bass\, Isabella Smith on vocals and percussion\, and Arran Cargill-Brown on keys and guitar—together bringing a rich immersive live experience to the stage. \n‘I’m Gorgeous’ and ‘Gold and Blue’ Winter Tour 2025 \nFrench for Rabbits + Michael Llewellyn\nwith their bands \n21 June – Space Academy – Ōtautahi | Christchurch\n28 June – RSC Grey Lynn – Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland\n3 July – Meow – Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington\n4 July – Small Hall Sessions – Te Matau-a-Māui | Hawke’s Bay\n5 July – The Dome Cinema – Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa | Gisborne \nMichael Llewellyn \n19 June – Pearl Diver – Ōtepoti | Dunedin (trio)\n26 June – Dawn – Ōakura | Taranaki (band)\n27 June – The Yard – Raglan (band) \n
