SUMMARY:Joyful Revolution - Intersectional Fundraising Gig
DESCRIPTION:In support of 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗔𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗮 (𝗣𝗦𝗡𝗔) and 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗮 (𝗖𝗟𝗔). \nThis night we come together in joy and solidarity. Recognising that we are all fighting the same fight and that joy is the fuel for the revolution. \nWe will start the night with poetry and storytelling\, followed by live performances from 3 incredible acts. With different flavours of music to suit a wide range of tastes\, we will build the energy together through the night finishing with a 10 piece Samba band\, Tupinikeen! \nAt this event we understand that change starts in the underground and from grass roots communities. We recognise that to bring this change we need to work together within and between our communities. Understanding the intersectionality of all our struggles. This event hopes to be a small step in that direction. \n100% of proceeds go to the community organisations (PSNA and CLA)\, Joyful revolution will keep zero.\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nCant make the gig night but believe in the Kaupapa\, donations accepted here: https://chuffed.org/…/189532-joyful-revolution…\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\n𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:\n6pm start – (Free Entry and Open to the public until 8pm)\nWill have stalls set up from 6pm. Resisting alongside communities fighting for climate\, environmental & First Nation’s justice\, making videos\, films & music along the way.\nHates cops\, loves community led resistance\, and lampooning shit companies. Their lyrics reflect as much. \n𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝\nForged and brought to fruition in Mangaroa Valley\, from the depths of Upper Hutt two brothers have found inspiration in Ōtautahi to create some tasty sonic juice alongside the most groovy saxophonist\, Felix Harrison\, under the name Sound Salad. Through a host of protest songs and dance floor grooves expect dub bass lines and rhythms\, melty guitar licks\, lush keys and a comfort in the unknown with these genre bending bros. \n𝐓𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛\nThis 10-piece samba band is Ōtautahi’s first traditional samba group\, bringing Brazil’s vibrant rhythms to Christchurch with authentic instruments like pandeiro\, tamborim and cavaquinho\, fostering community\, culture and celebration. They know how to bring a vibe and get you moving those hips!!\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\n𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐉𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧\nJoyful Revolution started with the desire to help run cross community events that foster connections between different advocacy and justice networks. Starting from grassroots and with intersectionality and solidarity at the foundation\, the goal of Joyful Revolution is to bring radical progressive change to our political system. To call for a political system which chooses people and planet over profit.\nThe long-term plan is to curate a multi-day activist\, grass roots community led “festival styled conference” centring anti-capitalism and intersectional understanding. A space for people to learn\, knowledge/skill share\, grow cross community connections and to be joyful together while doing so.\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nP.S.\n𝐴𝑙𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑢𝑒𝑠\, 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑢𝑛𝑑 𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑔𝑖𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑓𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑖𝑔.
