DESCRIPTION:Nau Mai Haere Mai ki a koutou katoa \nWould you like to learn more about Taonga Pūoro? \nJoin us on the first of a series of talks on Taonga Pūoro from Waitaha*** Pūoro collective Kiki Pounamu\, where you will experience stories of Pūoro & then be immersed in an oro hekenga\, an aural watery voyage of sounds. \nFirst up is a deep dive into Te Whanau o Tangaroa and Hine Moana\, Nga Atua ~ Elementals of the Waters & their soundchildren\, hear their voices\, ngā waimahara\, purakau ~ stories of their origins\, their uses and how they are made into sound instruments such as the angaanga shell instruments ~ Putatara\, Pupakapaka conch shell trumpets\, hoputea\, pupu\, ngata whakaruu ~ cross blown shell flutes\, also Porutu Toroa albatross bone long flutes and many others both sonorous and gently flowing vessels from the maraeroa of Tangaroa Matua and Hine Moana ~~~ \n* Hosted by: Rua Pick\, Gabriel Atawhai Calcott\, Michelle Tuarāhonu Croft \n* Limited to 12 spaces (book in early to secure your spot) \n* 2 X Koha tickets available \n* Each participant will also receive a Hoputea\, pupu pūoro on a string to take home. \n* Cacao Tokorangi will be provided by the Cacao Ambassador ~ \n* What to bring: Yoga Mat & Pillow\, water\, Journal (we recommend fasting the day of the event if possible) \n* When & where: 1-5pm Sunday 24th March @ The Cacao Embassy 169 Ferry Rd\, Waltham\, Christchurch 8011 \nToi tu te marae a Tangaroa\, Toi tu te Iwi ~~~ If the marae of Tangaroa (Water) survives so will the people. \nMe ka kore he wai ka kore\, ka kore he Ao ~~~ If there is no water there will be no Universe \n
