Members of this talented group come from a diverse range of musical backgrounds. The original line-up consisted of acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisa Tui Jonathan\, Cellist Nicole Reddington\, and Taonga Puoro specialist Mahina Kingi-Kaui. Through the process of creating the film’s unique soundscapes\, they discovered an exciting common ground and have been inspired to continue creating music together. The group has recently been augmented by the addition of amazing multi-instrumentalist and composer Pieta Hextall. \nPou Ataata live performances offer an affirming message of care for Papatuanuku\, celebrating our uniqueness and sharing it through the beauty and profound impact of Taonga Puoro and music. \n  \nThis event is part of Matariki 2024\, where we’re celebrating Matariki with talented artists from Ōtautahi and beyond. Bring your friends and whānau to Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre (17 – 30 Pipiri June) for music\, exhibitions\, kapa haka\, wānanga (workshops)\, kai\, light installations\, special mākete and much more. \n
