Underground King aka Big Sima an ?tautahi based rapper has influences from his upbringing through his lyrics to share his stories. Big Sima has had sold old shows in ?tautahi and is playing in upcoming gigs with Tiki Taane. Big Sima also has NZ On Air funding for his song “Back in the Day” tells his story of growing up as a ” brown boy in Christchurch” being confronted by skinheads.
Local Elements also known as “Local” is a hip-hop artist from ?tautahi. Originally formed as a group in 2015 ‘Local Elements’ has over time become a solo endeavour. Local is very invested in social and environmental issues and a lot of his lyrics reflect his views on the state of Aotearoa and the world. With influence by the likes of Tom Scott, Scribe, David Dallas, just dirty and Tipene to name a few, local takes NZ Hip-hop very seriously and his stage performances are not one to miss.
Quakeside Productions is a Samoan hip hop group with producer and DJ NiU and NUMYNEiM representing their heritage through music. DJ NiU is a very talented producer and is currently studying sound engineering at MAINZ.
