The Knews Live At GM Hair Gallery

August 19, 2023 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm NZST

Come and celebrate The Knews’ new single ‘She’s Warm 2’ at their final headline show in Christchurch before moving to Melbourne. GM Hair Gallery will be turned into a music venue for 1 night – fit with a stage, bar and food truck. The Knews will be Joined by local legend Goodwill (solo).

Three years since forming, and with numerous shows already under their belt including a sold-out headline debut, The Knews’ early reputation as one of Christchurch’s finest indie rock acts should really come as no surprise. The project is the brainchild of Cullen Kiesanowski who, to his 25-year-old name, already has a gold-selling single, countless tours around the globe and an Aotearoa Music Award nomination as a writer and performer in ‘nomad’. While following a similar trajectory and featuring the same level of anthemic sing-along-ability, The Knews is a stylistic departure from Kiesanowski’s previous project. Grungey and guitar driven, the influence of acts including Beabadoobee, The Drums, Current Joys and Beach Fossils can be heard.

Goodwill is the brainchild of songwriter and producer Will McGillivray. Will cut his teeth in his teenage years touring overseas and playing major festivals prior to the inception of Goodwill. Hunkered down in a home studio, Goodwill is now leaning into a love of dissonant guitars, analog synthesisers, washed out grainy lo-fi and longing melodies. Following the release of debut EP ‘Incontrol’, Goodwill gained instant acclaim, award nominations and top spots on Spotify, radio and charts. Between supporting Yumi Zouma, Dave Dobbyn and playing packed headline shows, Will is making major waves in the indie scene.
