Wednesday Night Action Volume 2: Hong Kong

June 14, 2017 @ 7:00 pm NZST

Wednesday Night Action proudly presents “Riki-Oh – Story of Ricky” – the second in a monthly series of face-melting bootleg movie screenings.

Adapted from the Japanese comic strip, Lam Ngai Kai’s low-budget 1991 Hong Kong masterwork set a new standard in cheesy, exhilarating ultraviolence with the tale of sensitive music student and indestructible martial artist Riki Ho.

When Riki knuckle-murders the dastardly smack dealers responsible for the death of his girlfriend, he’s sent to a dystopian private prison ruled by a corrupt, sadistic warden and his quartet of super-human criminal henchmen. Trapped in a broken system, our weepy emo hero is forced to clean the jailhouse the only way he knows how – with a bone-shattering, eye-gouging, gut-splattering, tendon-slashing kung-fu bloodbath!

“Riki-Oh” is a top-notch example of dirt-cheap, unintentionally hilarious insanity, but those of a sensitive disposition should consider themselves warned. Rubber heads will be crushed, and syrupy blood will flow.

Entry is free, but we’ll be collecting donations for our patron saints at Ramon Film Productions – the microbudget Ugandan studio responsible for “Who Killed Captain Alex?”

Join us at darkroom on Wednesday the 14th for 91 minutes of terrible dubbing, flying needles, intestinal strangulation, leaf flutes, latex gore, gallons of plasma and a man with an artificial eye full of breath mints.
Bar opens at 7pm – film commences 8.30pm.

Next month: Canada.
