SUMMARY:Crumpled - Sweat Vol. II Ft. Hurricane Emily
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nAfter great success with the inaugural Crumpled gig at Flux\, Productive Sweat Vol.II will continue to establish the Crumpled sound and shine light on talent within the New Zealand electronic music scene. Fun\, Authenticity & Endurance are front and center of the sonic values. These values come through in the type of music to expect – something danceable\, energetic and not too serious – whilst still residing within the four walls of House music. \n  \nHurricane Emily is the alias of Pōneke based DJ Emily Janus. Since her return to the city that raised her\, she has been carving out her space within the dance music community; appearing on numerous line-ups and featuring as a regular at the capital’s favorite basement – Club 121. Hurricane Emily is synonymous with hard-house steppers\, electro wigglers\, cowgirl-breaks and rave euphoria. Emily has also been working behind-the-scenes on launching a new collective\, Universal Underground. Focusing on facilitating artist development through free / koha DJ/production lessons\, the collective will live as a space for women and gender non-conforming individuals. Rising with finesse\, Hurricane Emily is carving out her space within the Aotearoa music scene. Dress to sweat. \nŌtautahi resident Joyce is known for her diverse sets and genre blends. With passion towards her track lists for every set\, she knows how to get a crowd moving. Joyce is known for playing a multitude of genres in her 2023 sets and will continue this onwards. \nJoyce (Anna Clinch) is one half of Crumpled and aims to push the sound\, energy and values that herself and Max Rodhouse set out to establish. \nTikka made her DJ debut at the end of 2022 and has since played for a number of club nights including Haven\, Way.pnt\, Echotrains and Sugar & Spice. As Tangata Whenua\, Tikka is here to show you “how we do” and hopes to inspire other young rangatahi to pursue their creative dreams. As a multi-genre artist\, Tikka can only describe their sound as fast-paced and bass-weighted\, but their mix collection shows nothing is really off limits. Tikka has had the pleasure of playing alongside the likes of Coco Bryce\, DJ Fuckoff\, Nite Fleit and Dr Dubplate. Crumpled warmly welcomes the lineup and dancers to Productive Sweat Vol.II – 10th of February at Flux. \n  \nDJ’s \nJoyce \nTikka \nHurricane Emily \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:FULL SPECTRUM 003 feat. Zed Bias
DESCRIPTION:Hide presents: FULL SPECTRUM 003\nJoin us for a night of dancing through the electronic music spectrum featuring UK Garage pioneer Zed Bias alongside a stacked local support across 2 zones including:\nDownstairs:\nEyes Down + Losfix\, Dj Decay & Indecisive\nUpstairs (attic rave):\nThanks\, Kravis\, Rydr & Trivial + guests\n$15 on the door before 11pm\, $20 after\nZed Bias:\n“For well over two decades\, shattering stylistic standards has been his trademark\, as he builds on whatever base takes his fancy – house\, UK garage\, dancehall\, funk\, broken beat\, dubstep\, dub reggae and so on – then shifts that particular piece of music into areas that are never less than surprising. Zed is incapable of doing it any other way\, as he believes such perpetual motion is a natural by-product of today’s studio environment that positively encourages new ideas and the overturning of convention.”\nLloyd Bradley\, author of “Bass Culture : When Reggae was King” and “Sounds like London : 100 years of Black Music in the Capital”.\nDave Jones\, better known as ZED BIAS\, is a MOBO Nominated Music producer\, arranger\, remixer\, guest lecturer\, and DJ\, based in Manchester\, UK.\nEarly in his career\, Bias released a flurry of well received tracks\, such as “Strong Enough to Survive”\, “All night Jam”\, ”Standard Hoodlum Issue”\, “Crazy” by 7 Wonders\, “Been here before” and “In your mind”.\nZed Bias is best known for his single “Neighbourhood” which reached #25 in the UK Singles chart in July 2000\, on LOCKED ON / XL recordings. The track created a large underground response from late 1999 in its original version\, which was recently included in the soundtrack of the 2021 movie “People Just Do Nothing : BIG IN JAPAN”. The song\, featuring the vocals of MC Rumpus and Nicky Prince\, is still widely regarded as a UKG Anthem.\nFrom the start of his career\, continuously until present day\, Zed Bias has been engaged in remixing duties for a huge number of well known artists. Naming just a few of over two hundred artists he’s remixed for\, are Whitney Houston\, Slum Village\, Pharaohe Monch\, Missy Elliot\, MJ Cole\, Sticky\, Tubby T\, Roy Davis Jr\, Steve Arrington\, C+C Music Factory\, Sa-Ra Creative Partners\, Gabrielle\, Arthur Baker\, Joey Negro\, Omar\, The Streets\, Disclosure\, Jessie Ware\, Matt Bianco\, Riz MC\, Rita Ora\, Azymuth\, Chakademus and Pliers\, Example\, Chase and Status\, Ms Dynamite\, Mary J Blige\, De la soul\, Karen Harding\, DJ Zinc\, and more recently\, Bad Boy Chiller Crew\, Secret Night Gang and DJ Luck & MC Neat have all had the Zed treatment.\nBias’ releases\, which explore a more experimental or progressive side of the 2 step garage sound (sometimes described as ‘dark-swing’) have been hailed as a crucial element in the establishment of Dubstep\, as a definable sound or genre. He was one of the original resident DJ’s at the infamous club\, FWD>>\, the East London birthplace of Dubstep culture. Since then Bias has toured the world both as a DJ and a guest lecturer for Red Bull Music Academy.\n

SUMMARY:Mad Like Me (Tour)
DESCRIPTION:Are you mad like me? Come watch a podcast being recorded… LIVE! \nSit back\, relax and be prepared to laugh\, cry and learn about the lived experiences of everyday humans and their mental health. \nSimilar to a theatre show or a live panel\, we’ll be recording a podcast episode – right in front of you! \nMad Like Me is a space where we can talk to people about the lived realities of mental health\, well-being and life. It’s funny\, honest and real – no celebrity stories of how “I had depression and now I climb 6 mountains a week…” We focus on the everyday human experiences of living life. \nIt’s important for us to get into the heart of our communities and to connect with as many people as possible. We know this will go a long way to help end discrimination for those who experience any form of mental illness or distress. The more we share our stories\, the more we can normalise what doesn’t always feel normal. \nWe’ll be interviewing local guests in each town\, sharing how kindness is truly the answer AND giving away swag bags to all those who register for the event. \nIf you know what it means to laugh or you’ll cry\, are passionate about creating safer mental health spaces and keen to learn more about your fellow humans – then this is the show for you! \n
