DESCRIPTION:NEW ZEALAND MUSIC MONTH SPECIAL – WEDNESDAY MAY 8th – A ROLLING STONE .\n4 different acts will play a variety of kiwi songs and originals starting at 7.30pm .\nANDY THOMPSON\nAndy is from the West Coast and has been an active performer since the 70s as a soloist\, fronting bands like Beyond a Joke and a playwright with a very memorable production about Rewi Alley and others. He has recently returned from playing Peace Concerts in Oregon\, Vancouver and Banf. His last song will include accompaniment from Cyril Hector on sax and Dave Mitchell on jews harp . \nKRISTINA GODFREY AND TONY HALE with support from CYRIL HECTOR and ANDY THOMPSON\nKristina Godfrey and Tony Hale have been in a duo for 9 years. Kristina is a singer-songwriter who released her first album of original songs Good Enough For Love ‘in 2018 at the Christchurch Folk Music Club . Tony is a fine finger-style guitarist who enjoys exploring new tunings\, styles and songs. He puts on the annual guitar concert Fingerpicking Delights at the Christchurch Folk Club. Last year they shared songs at the Balcairn Hall in North Canterbury and supported also the empowerment of woman at this year’s U.N. Woman’s fundraiser at the Chateau on the Park\, Dunedin’s Whare Flat Folk Festival and locally at house concerts .\nCyril Hector has played in West Coast and Christchurch bands since the late 70s playing jazz\, rock\, ska and reggae in both originals and covers bands . tonight he plays saxophone. He also plays guitar and bass . \nCo -op MUSIC\nCo-op Music is a Christchurch based act who have been collaborating since 2010.\nCo-op is made up of Tumanako Tinirau (Tu) on vocal and Jonny Cartwright on guitar. Tu and Jonny have been performing and working in the music industry for 20 years. Co-op are a seasoned duo that perform regularly in Christchurch and beyond. Co-op put their own spin on classic songs and kiwi tracks utilizing live looping and effects to take the audience on a groovy soulful ride \nSIDEWAYS\nFormed in the early 2000’s\, Sideways is a collective featuring Karen Cavanagh on bass and vocals\, Paul Cavanagh on guitar and Lynn Timpany on vocals . They will cover an eclectic mix of Kiwi music ranging from John Hanlon to Tim Finn through to Jordan luck and Marlon Williams and more . \n
