SUMMARY:Hide & Censored Events Presents: Satl & Tokyo Prose
DESCRIPTION:Hide & Censored Events are thrilled to present SATL & Tokyo Prose! \nHide Club | 172 St Asaph Street \nFriday 13th September | 10:00pm – 3:00am \nSupport from: Miss Jane\, Chetty D \nTickets are on sale now! Scoop up an early bird before they’re gone! \nSATL: \nHailing from Poland\, Satl is one of the leading lights in a new generation of Drum & Bass producers. Still only in his early 20s\, he first started producing over a decade ago\, giving his music a refinement and depth beyond his years. Blending a host of influences\, Satl has managed to craft a signature sound best described as hazy cosmic soul with powerful rolling drums. Never satisfied and driven to excel at his craft\, the young producer is absurdly prolific\, often writing dozens of tracks in a month. \nIt’s not surprising then that his music has been heavily supported by some of the most influential DJs in the scene and has him working closely with leading labels such as The North Quarter and Integral. His productivity also influences his DJ sets\, which heavily feature his own work\, making them unique and sought-after showcases. His blend of melancholic yet energetic soulful music has already taken him across the world\, from London to Hong Kong and Sydney\, and yet Satl’s journey is only just beginning. \n  \nTokyo Prose: \nSam Reed aka Tokyo Prose is the leading producer of liquid drum & bass in NZ. His music has been released on Soul:r\, Samurai Music\, Hospital Records and his most recent album “Wild Grace” was released on Lenzman’s emergent The North Quarter label. His music is regularly supported by many of the scenes biggest names including Calibre\, Lenzman\, Hybrid Minds\, LSB\, DJ Marky\, London Elektricity and many more. \nFor a career of over ten years’\, Tokyo Prose has a succinct and carefully managed back-catalogue of music. He has a deliberate\, restrained\, and soulful production style with a firm focus on musicality and groove. Tokyo Prose started his career on Samurai Music with 2011’s ‘Introducing Tokyo Prose’ EP that featured the breakout tune “Saving Grace”. In the same year\, Tokyo Prose with Fis went onto launch the Samurai Horo label including the track “The Truths” which featured on Forrest Swords’ 2018 DJ Kicks compilation. \nIn 2014 Tokyo Prose released his debut album ‘Presence’ on Samurai Music. ‘Presence’ marked the culmination of his musical exploration and evolution up until that point – encapsulating the soulful\, emotive vibrancy of the Tokyo Prose sound\, now fully formed and refined. The album included several features with DRS\, Riya and Fox on vocals and Lenzman\, Synkro and LSB on co-production. \nSoon after saw his first feature on Marcus Intalex’s hugely respected label Soul:R with ‘Tell Me’\, on the 5th edition of the popular Fourfit series. \nTokyo Prose’s sophomore album on The North Quarter ‘Wild Grace’ delivered a masterclass in emotive musical storytelling. The project features some of his most sought-after works including the popular ‘Innate Motion’\, ‘Trick of the Light’ and ‘Brilliant Corners’. ‘Innate Motion’ was also featured in Calibre’s BBC Essential Mix. \n

SUMMARY:Troy Kingi - Leatherman and the Mojave Green Tour | Christchurch
DESCRIPTION:Album number eight of the 10 | 10 | 10 series – ‘Leatherman & the Mojave Green’ is a homecoming of sorts for Troy Kingi\, returning to the genre of music that ultimately enticed him in to the industry – rock music. Inspired in his mid teens by so many artists that have come from or created in the Mojave Desert region (Kyuss\, QOTSA\, Eagles of Death Metal) it was an easy decision for Troy to record this album in the home of Desert Rock: Joshua Tree\, in a studio synonymous with that sound ‘Rancho de la Luna’. \nRancho is run by Dave Catching\, a legend in his right (QOTSA\, Eagles of Death Metal\, The Mojave Lords etc)\, and being entrenched in that environment with such deep folklore and rich rocky tapestry\, Troys album seemingly formed itself – borrowing sweaty heat from the sandy desert\, eclectic melodies from the sunlit mountains\, ancient rhythms from sacred caves and a sharp pointy punch from the Joshua Tree Cactus. \nTroy Kingi is a story teller\, each album immersed in rich worlds\, which inform the writing. ‘Leatherman & the Mojave Green’ takes us out into the desert\, where we hear a myriad of stories\, one in particular talking of the Sunshine Community Cult tattooing their eyeballs\, allowing them to stare at the sun and receive its many blessings. \nThe album\, is accompanied by a four part documentary series ‘Troy Kingi’s Desert Hikoi’\, directed by Tom Hern (The Panthers\, The Dark Horse\, Guns Akimbo\, Shadow in the Clouds)\, featuring Serj Tankian\, Brant Bjork\, Dave Catching and many many more OG’s of the Califiornian Rock scene. ‘Troy Kingi’s Desert Hikoi’ it out now on TVNZ+ on demand. \nTroy Kingi\, on his time in the Mojave Desert: \n“The trip to Joshua Tree was a timely Godsend – at a pivotal point where I had hit a wall\, a blockage\, I was waning\, struggling creatively with were to go to next with my music\, the whole 10/10/10 thing\, had it finally broken me? \nBeing in this place – one of the holiest of holys for me\, the birthplace of the greatest rock album of all time ‘Songs for the deaf’ – it was hard not to be inspired by it all – by the crazy Martian like landscape\, the people\, the foreign-ness\, songs started forming in my dreams\, rushing to me from the heated horizon\, I found my thing again – and it seemed to flow easily like it once did when I first started my journey 8 years ago. The sound we found is definitely different\, it’s the most aggressive sound I’ve ever created.“ \n
