SUMMARY:Grace Petrie
DESCRIPTION:Grace Petrie returns to Aotearoa to promote her new album ‘Build Something Better’ \nIt’s two years since CONNECTIVITY (2021) smashed into the top 40 and debuted at #1 in the UK download chart\, propelling the fiercely independent voice of GRACE PETRIE from critics’ choice to the main stages of major festivals across Britain\, Australia and Canada. \nNow the songwriter is back – stronger\, older and a whole lot angrier than ever before. As rightwing ideologues trade in suspicion and cynicism\, tearing communities apart against a backdrop of crumbling public services\, the ordinary folk of Britain continue to suffer the consequences of corruption and individualism. \nFrom within this maelstrom of despair comes BUILD SOMETHING BETTER – the new\, uncontainable album from Grace Petrie. \n

SUMMARY:Kraus With Twin Rudders and Stonehenge Aotearoa
DESCRIPTION:Kraus returns to Christchurch on his 2024 NZ tour\, with support from Blenheim duo Twin Rudders\, and Stonehenge Aotearoa\, featuring Gemma Syme and Bek Coogan. \nKraus (aka Pat Kraus\, he/him) is a producer of psychedelic music based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Starting his musical life as a drummer in Ōtepoti bands such as The Futurians\, Kraus has released over twenty solo albums since the turn of the millennium and performed widely in Aotearoa\, Australia and Europe. Drawing on an extremely wide range of influences\, from contemporary West African synth music (eg. Hama) to the outer limits of 70s psychedelia (Pärson Sound\, Les Rallizes Denudes)\, and from early electronic pioneers such as Laurie Spiegel to the traditional folk music of East Asia\, Kraus conjures a rich and evocative sound-world through vividly modal and minimal compositions for guitar\, synthesizer and drums. His recent synth-heavy work melds sci-fi sound-design and hypnotic polyrhythms to create new forms of head-spinning electronic music.\n“Corrosive and masterful” (Byron Coley\, The Wire)\n“One of the most quietly important and interesting people making music in New Zealand” (Kiran Dass\, The Listener)\nhttps://kraussss.bandcamp.com/ \nTwin Rudders\nWairau based rhythm experiments from Fam and Matt Hellreigel \nSTONEHENGE AOTEAROA is Bek Coogan and Gemma Syme. ‘ Echoes from the dirt ‘ — improvised and remembered sonic offerings . \n

SUMMARY:Wet Denim
DESCRIPTION:Emerging indie rockers Wet Denim announce their sophomore EP On The Line will be released on Friday 27 September. To celebrate the EP’s release\, the band will embark on a national tour this October/November bringing their energetic live show to fans throughout the country. Promising to play the new EP in full and push their live show further than they have before\, this will be fans first chance to see their new music live and loud!\nBeginning in Dunedin at The Crown on Thursday 10 October\, the band will then play Christchurch’s Darkroom on Friday 11 October and The Sail in Timaru on Saturday 12 October. The band then head north playing Whammy Bar in Auckland on Friday 25 October\, The Paisley Stage in Napier on Saturday 16 November and a homecoming show at San Fran in Wellington on Friday 29 November.\nOn The Line sees euphoric highs contrasted with melancholic lows\, and features both road-tested and brand-new material written and recorded over the past two years.\n“The EP has probably changed as much as we have over the past two years. As we’ve recorded this project over the past 12 months\, the lyrics and arrangements have evolved a lot\, sometimes being completely altered from original demos. These changes and development in songwriting reflects more and more where we’ve been as individuals\, and as a band. Our collaborative writing process has given this music a deeply personal meaning to each of us in different ways\, and it’s a project we’re really proud of.” – Wet Denim\n

SUMMARY:Hide Presents: QZB
DESCRIPTION:Hide is thrilled to present Swiss DnB duo QZB! \nHide Club | 172 St Asaph Street \nFriday 11th October | 10:00pm – 3:00am \nSupport from: Halvzi\, Indecisive\, Postmen \nTickets are on sale now! Scoop up an early bird before they’re gone! \n  \nQZB Bio: \nAnyone thirsting for conventional sounds is at the wrong address. QZB roll up Drum’n’Bass anew—precise\, focused\, and with a dynamic that is infectious. \nSince 2012\, they have been putting their heads together and constantly working on the perfection of their recipes. The impressive interim result: sold-out club nights\, festival appearances all over Europe\, and releases on the hottest label for visions of the future\, Critical Music. \nThis success is no accident. From the very beginning\, razor-sharp percussion and an unmistakably forward-looking overall aesthetic provided enthusiasm on the dance floors. Hip hop and breaks are just as much a source of inspiration as Italo disco or jazz—knowing that reaching new worlds also means breaking with the past. Borders are not yet in sight. \nFuture Forever / Debut Album \n‘Future Forever’ sees QZB come full circle. The duo’s debut album lands after a three-year span of radical re-examination. During this extended writing time\, they have delved head-first into their practice\, questioning every step of the process. Drafting\, testing\, reimagining its components. Fine-tuning its minute details. Until the machine was built to fit the spec. \nBoth artists draw on their shared passion for cinematography and design to translate this experience\, incorporating new modes of production throughout. With sonic fragments arranged in wide shot compositions\, the QZB signature sound delivers. \nWithin 36 months of recording\, patching\, scratching\, bouncing\, and re-bouncing\, QZB have distilled their vision down to 44 minutes of focused intent. This album is high-tech funk recounting the past\, understanding the present\, hallucinating the coming. Featuring contributions by Charli Brix\, T-Man\, Marea\, and MCXL. \n
