SUMMARY:Lads On Tour Cabaret
DESCRIPTION:Lads On Tour Cabaret is back with another jam packed variety show of drag\, circus\, burlesque\, comedy\, dance\, and poetry! \nFri May 30th at Darkroom\, 336 St Asaph Street\nDoors open 7pm and show starts 7:30pm \nTickets start at just $15 from Eventfinda! \nAbout Lads On Tour Cabaret:\nLads on Tour first took to the stage in March 2015. What was originally meant to be a one off informal variety show of weird and wonderful acts quickly became an ongoing series of shows.\nWith MC and producer Feather Unsure at the helm\, she’s joined by a different motley menagerie of performers in every show. Add in a cult following of audience members\, some sweat\, tears\, and healthy discharge\, something to do with an avocado\, a few cans of warm Dobro\, a hot glue gun\, and a decade of injokes – and you’ve got the recipe for one of Aotearoa’s longest-running variety shows. The series celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year and we’re not done yet! Join us on May 30th for our next show! \nR18. R.O.A.R. \nPlease note the venue is unfortunately only accessible by stairs. Please contact us at info@darkroom.bar for all inquiries including for accessibility assistance. \n

SUMMARY:Voom - 'Something Good Is Happening' Tour
DESCRIPTION:Auckland indie-rock legends Voom — after years of slow-burning genius\, cult-adored releases\, and sporadic-yet-memorable live performances — are finally back with their long-awaited new album\, Something Good Is Happening\, out Friday 16 May via Flying Nun Records. To celebrate\, the band have announced a four-date New Zealand tour\, taking their new songs (and some beloved classics) on the road for the ‘Something Good Is Happening Tour’. \nBeginning at Auckland’s hottest new venue Double Whammy on Friday 23 May\, the band head off the beaten track to Raglan’s The Yard on Saturday 24th before firing up the following weekend with shows at The Loons in Lyttelton on Friday 30 May and finally San Fran in Wellington on Saturday 31 May. \nTickets are on sale now at moshtix.co.nz \nSomething Good Is Happening marks Voom’s first full-length album in nearly two decades\, following 2006’s Hello\, Are You There?\, a record that carved out their place as one of Aotearoa’s most quietly influential indie bands. The new record is a lovingly stitched-together patchwork of songs — collected\, demoed\, shelved\, and reshaped over the years — and lovingly polished by the band’s current lineup: frontman Buzz Moller\, Murray Fisher (Goodshirt)\, Nick Buckton (aka sidekicknick)\, and drummer Josh Sorenson. \nWhile the road to this album has been anything but conventional\, the result is unmistakably Voom: skewed pop melodies\, heartfelt ballads\, fuzzy guitars\, and a whole lot of soul. The band recently teased the record with lead single ‘Trouble’\, a song about craving something so badly you’re willing to throw caution to the wind. The video\, directed by Matthew Campbell Downs and made with support from NZ on Air\, captures that reckless yearning perfectly. \nVoom’s music is known for its raw honesty and emotional clarity — never postured or overly refined\, always vulnerable and real. Their sound is a delicate balance of youthful optimism and late-night melancholy\, and Something Good Is Happening continues this tradition with even greater depth and texture. \nFrom their cult-favourite debut Now I Am Me to their 2006 classic Hello\, Are You There?\, Voom have remained a singular force in the New Zealand music landscape. Their return in 2025 is both a nostalgic nod and a refreshing reinvention. Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering them for the first time\, the ‘Something Good Is Happening Tour’ is your chance to experience a band whose sincerity and sonic curiosity continue to shine. \nDon’t miss Voom live this May — something good is definitely happening. \n
