DESCRIPTION:DOUBLE HAVEN returns for King’s Birthday weekend with 2 nights of sweat alongside 2 international guests on the Galaxy Arcade floor… \nOn Saturday 30th May we invite HAVEN signee and Berlin-based techno weapon VALERIE ACE to Aotearoa’s shores for the first time. With a distinctly futuristic sound that spans the gamut from hard-edged sound design to rave degeneracy to dub and Detroit influences her releases have appeared on the likes of Intrepid Skin\, Boys Noize Records\, Mama Told Ya\, KAOS/OAKS\, RAW and beyond. This has led to sets at many of the world’s finest techno institutions including RSO and Tresor in Berlin\, Fold London\, Stone Techno Festival\, and OIL in Shenzen as part of her regular touring in Asia. \nKicking off the night we have Ōtautahi’s TOM PLUM gracing the HAVEN booth for the first time following the past few years of sets across the city’s leading sweat dens\, while our resident THE RAT will warm the floor ready for our guest to take-over… \n________________________________________________________________________________ \nOn Sunday 31st May we celebrate the Monday off with a live set the UK’s Carrier – the most recent project from life-long electronic music artist Guy Brewer. His previous musical forays made him a fixture in international dance music. This started in DnB as Commix – becoming a fixture of the post-tech-step new wave and releasing on Metalheadz\, Exit\, and 31 Records – and with techno as Shifted – founding the Avian label and exploring dubbed-out minimalism\, rhythmic noise and experimental drones. In 2023 he launched the Carrier project on the legendary Trilogy Tapes label\, distilling influences from the golden era of drum & bass\, dub techno\, and experimental electronics into a unified approach that values space\, simplicity\, and atmosphere over adherence to genre.
