SUMMARY:Placemaking in a built city
DESCRIPTION: \nPlacemaking in a Built City \nFollowing the earthquakes\, Ōtautahi became known for temporary urbanism\, creative experimentation and community-led placemaking. As the city has rebuilt\, the context has changed – so what does placemaking look like now\, and what role can it play in shaping the next chapter of our city? \nLife in Vacant Spaces\, in partnership with Placemaking Aotearoa\, invites you to an afternoon of ideas\, stories\, provocations and conversation exploring where we’ve come from\, where we are now\, and what comes next. \nWe’ll hear from a range of voices about what it feels like to live\, create and make things happen in Ōtautahi today. We’ll explore projects and ideas already shaping our city\, some of the opportunities and challenges we face\, and what might help Christchurch continue to be a place where people can experiment\, participate\, connect and belong. \nThis won’t just be an afternoon of presentations. Expect short talks\, different perspectives\, facilitated discussion\, table conversations and plenty of opportunity to connect with others in the room – followed by drinks\, kai and informal networking at Space Academy. \nThursday 15 October | 12.30–5pm\nNetworking\, drinks & kai to follow\nSpace Academy\, 371 St Asaph Street\, Ōtautahi Christchurch \nNumbers are limited\, so if you book a spot\, please make sure you can join us. If your plans change\, we’d really appreciate you passing your ticket on or letting us know so we can offer the place to someone else. \n

SUMMARY:Stillwater Lines: Yellow Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:Inside a cabin in Te Aroha\, songwriter and former IvyBlue frontman James Brodie created Yellow- his first solo album under the Stillwater Lines persona. \nDesigned as a way to understand the events of his past in order to move forward into his future while recovering from a near-fatal car crash; James set about using his guitar\, voice\, and MIDI Keyboard to use music as a way to put his heart back together. \nAnd in support of Yellow’s release (July 2026)\, James is hitting the road to share the stories of his recovery and share the songs from the album using only his voice and his guitar. \nThis promises to be an intimate evening of stories and songs about faith\, hope\, recovery\, and joy through all seasons of life. \nSpecial Guest TBA \n
