Simurgh is a Christchurch-based fusion ensemble of traditional instruments from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, India, and the Arabic world. The group was born out of the collaboration between multi-instrumentalists Esmail Fathi, Liam Oliver, Nelson & Pragunya Myers-Daly, as well as other local musicians and singers experienced in these rich music traditions. New drummer, Dawn Hendrikse joins Lucinda Whiteley on bass (and vocals) giving the band a distinctly female feel.
