Kiki Pounamu presents Whanau o Tangaroa ~ Taonga Pūoro Wānanga + Sound Immersion

Would you like to learn more about Taonga Pūoro?
Join us on the first of a series of talks on Taonga Pūoro from Waitaha*** Pūoro collective Kiki Pounamu, where you will experience stories of Pūoro & then be immersed in an oro hekenga, an aural watery voyage of sounds.
First up is a deep dive into Te Whanau o Tangaroa and Hine Moana, Nga Atua ~ Elementals of the Waters & their soundchildren, hear their voices, ngā waimahara, purakau ~ stories of their origins, their uses and how they are made into sound instruments such as the angaanga shell instruments ~ Putatara, Pupakapaka conch shell trumpets, hoputea, pupu, ngata whakaruu ~ cross blown shell flutes, also Porutu Toroa albatross bone long flutes and many others both sonorous and gently flowing vessels from the maraeroa of Tangaroa Matua and Hine Moana ~~~
