Sound Salad EP Release Show
November 25 @ 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm NZDT$10
To celebrate the release of Sound Salad’s EP we’re once again putting on a night of dope music at Darkroom. It’s been a year of plentiful learning and productivity for us musically, and we’re so excited to share what we’ve been working on in the production lair, and then to give it all to you live and direct. You don’t want to miss out on this one, last time we had this lineup at Dark room it went off! Assemble the homies, there’ll be an epic variety of music throughout the night, all blending elements of electronica and live instruments.
8pm CAM GIDDENS:
Inspired by bass legends such as Michael Manring and Evan Brewer, Cam creates bass-centred music. He aims to utilise the full range of the bass guitar to show how versatile it can be. Cam is joined by Josh Meads on drums, who brings Cam’s compositions to the next level with his incredible chops and feel. This duo takes what was solo bass music and turns it into a mix of math rock and progressive rhythm section goodness.
Searing guitar solos surfing over sizzling beats. Experimental, multi-genre loop music. Improvised and crafted creations. Finding inspiration from artists such as FKJ, Tash Sultana, and Fat Freddies Drop, while also drawing from the many lineages of music across this planet. Music from the soul, with groove, harmony and feeling.
10pm SOUND SALAD:
Bound by blood, forged and polished in Mangaroa Valley, from the depths of Upper Hutt these two brothers have rejoined in Ōtautahi to create some rooty sonic goodness under the name Sound Salad.
Being brought up in the same nest of nature and music, with their father being a lifelong musician, these brothers have a solid grounding in musical diversity, language and groove.
Expect dubby rhythms and bass lines, lush and raunchy guitar, soulful landscapes of keys, vocals and the unexpected.
Doors open 7:30. $10 entry, EFTPOS or cash on the door.
