Dive into the wild, wave-riding world of Soviet Surfing — a genre where the shimmering exotica of tiki lounges crashes headfirst into cold, reverb-soaked musical shores. At the forefront of this genre-melding madness is legendary Christchurch Surfing USSR who took the vintage surf sound of the ‘60s and injected it with a playful, tongue-in-cheek Cold War aesthetic. Imagine twangy guitars, hypnotic rhythms, and a vibe that swings between a KGB beach party and a lost Martin Denny record spinning on a bootleg turntable in a Moscow basement. It’s espionage in a Hawaiian shirt, a Sputnik surf safari, and a tiki bar behind the Iron Curtain— all in one.
