Kreuser / Cailleau (Germany / France)

$10Please join us for an audio visual blow-out!
Kreuser/Cailleau connect prepared turntables, mix boards, super8 and video projectors. By crossing signals, they let sound create images and images create sound. Organising those in contextualised compositions. The result is an audiovisual performance machine or an experimental analogue DJ/VJ set, depending on the perspective you choose to take.
Based in Berlin, the duo are comprised of German composer Timo Kreuser and French filmmaker Guillaume Cailleau. Their work is informed by their approaching objects as containers of signifying function, generalised meaning and sociocultural contexts.
By ignoring the primary features of things, and instead focusing on the potential of the object itself as sonic and visual stimulator, meaning is moulded into new contexts and the original understanding of it is violated. Their interest in creating installations and live events is a continuation of the dialog between the two artists and their individual confrontations with the corporealities of their subjects.
At Space Academy they will be supported by James Robinson, Reuben Derrick & Rory Dalley.
